So lets just jump right in to this rant to be. The topic at hand today is children 5 – 9 year old ones to be precise. The age when they stop doing cute things like rolling over or tumbling spontaneously.
Before I begin I would just like to say something about my childhood. I don’t really know if I was annoying or not but most of my childhood was not spent around adults or even humans to be precise. No! I was not raised by wolves or anything, I was just an introvert by birth. I didn’t hang around people or try to get their attention, honestly their attention was the least i cared about. I don’t need an adult to tell me I’m cool. B|
Anyways. So most of my childhood was spent in voluntary solitary confinement. It was never boring though, see I was alone, but I was never quite alone. No! I do not see dead people, though i would love to have Haley Joel Osment’s blue eyes. The point I was at was that I always had these special friends. Friends other people saw as just little soft toys. A polar bear who was stereo-typically named Polar; His brother Pular who was apparently a penguin and many other little furry soft cuddly friends. We went on countless adventures while never leaving the proximity of my room and we always had fun saving the world.
Now to come to the rant segment of this article thingy. You see a few days ago I had some younger cousins staying over at my place. A 7 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. Don’t get me wrong when I tell you I love my little cousins and like having them around but these little creatures are the most annoying and attention wanting things in the world. Its not like they are even neglected children they have two very loving parents its just that they need eyes to be on them 24/7 or rather 25/92. They do not even care If its in a negative way or a positive way, they just need them eyes.
Following is a list of things they did all weekend to get my attention:
1. Break the numlock key on my keyboard because I use it a lot.
2. Pull the cats tail constantly
3. Pluck my hair out
4. Dance all day everyday in front of everybody
5. Change their clothes in the living room when everybody is eating
6. Fart (No need to say when or where for this one really)
Now that’s not even the part that annoys me most. I get it they are kids and kids fool around and do stuff. The part that bothers me most is that after being with them and trying to actually play with real toys, Lego, play doh and minecraft. I finally realized that creativity is dead among the kids now. That is the part that really saddens me, I don’t know whether to blame it on bad parenting or the schooling system but the fact is that these kids are so obsessed with getting others attention they do not even care to use their imagination for once.
I broke out some old soft toys and toy cars and stuff and they had no idea what to do with them. They look at me like I’m some alien giving them unknown future technology which they have no idea how to use. You play with them for a while and they just start picking the car up and throwing it at your head and if you tell them to play on their own they would just be like “How?” I mean HOW ?!?! Seriously !? HOW ?! Use you freaking imagination that’s how ! You have forty three toys in front of you, you can make up any scenario in the world and you ask me how ? Did you not see me playing with you trying to establish a whole thing ?
Its not just toys either, No idea what to build with Lego, just call an adult over and throw some at them same goes for play doh and lets just forget Minecraft. The moral of this rant is: Where has creativity gone in children ? I conquered the world at the age of 7 with the help of a wise turtle and saved it from an evil bunny and all these kids do now pick boogers and people. At the end of the day I guess i cant be too mad at a few kids, they’ll learn I guess.
That’s just my opinion hopefully no parent was hurt. I would love to hear some other opinions.
